Economic Digest 34 – Phase 2 of the National Infrastructure Plan by Kenny Pasensie

Government started implementing Phase 1 of the National Infrastructure Plan (NIP) in March 2022. In October this year it gazetted Phase 2 of the NIP for public comment. While Phase 1 focuses on the critical network infrastructure sectors of energy, freight transport, water and digital communications, Phase 2 will expand the focus to include a lasting vision for human settlements, municipal services (such as electricity, water and sanitation, and solid waste), passenger transport, road networks, social infrastructures (education and health infrastructure) and digital capabilities in infrastructure. The closing date for public comments on the NIP 2050 Phase 2 is 9 December 2022.
